I happened to have my grill removed so took some pictures (sorry not the best).
In summary there are two hoses connected to the compressor. The discharge (high pressure) hose turns into an aluminum pipe that bolts to the driver side of the condenser, On the passenger side of the condenser there is an aluminium pipe that routes to the dryer pod mounted on the driver side frame and then another aluminum pipe to the bulkhead, this pipe is insulated and closer to the frame. From the compressor the low pressure hose turns into an aluminum pipe that is routed above the condenser and then through a coupling routes next to the passenger side of the engine to the bulkhead. At the bulkhead the pipes connect to the evaporator with the connection point protruding through the bulkhead (big hole). There is one more thought. The kit you have bought is either a re-branded version of the Cool Air Logan AC kit or it is a very very close copy of it. Either way, the Cool air bods are lovely. I have had to ask them for instructions and parts lists before. Might be worth dropping them a line:

All those pictures look correct. I like the twin fan idea. Might add a second to my set up 2010 Range Rover MkIII Autobiography Super Charged (Idris)

Yeah dual fan seems to be factory, car is Middle East Spec (at least some of it). Still AC struggling about ~35 deg C. Typically I find the condenser looses efficiency over time, but for the Defender they are quite pricey.

My condenser shed all its fins like they all do.
Purchased a new large tropical one from Malta on eBay for less than half of the replacement cost., but had to anneal the upper horizontal 10mm aluminum pipe in your picture in order to modify the bends slightly to accommodate the new large condenser. ( I think the Malta sourced condenser was mainly for RHD cars) I’ll advise on efficiency once it gets hot next spring….. |
