How low can you go?
How low on fuel have you dared to go?

Driving back from Wales yesterday the low fuel light was on, and it said range 23 miles. Eventually it dropped to 7 miles and the satnav was trying to lead me to fuel stations.

l reached the local one with 2 miles range remaining. l wonder how much was left? l don't know if the 3.0 diesel will self prime if it's run out of fuel, on my old TD5 you could initiate a "purge" mode that would re pressurise the fuel rail and remove air.

lt was useful when you'd replaced the fuel filter.

I drive the P525 and once the remaining range hits 0 miles, I have around 10 litres left in the tank. According to my dealer, the diesel engines have around 5 litres left once it shows 0.

I have a MY22 110 D300
Drove 41km/25 miles with 0 indicated on the dash at an indicated 100km/h (62mph) which consumed 2.9 litres of diesel.
Went straight to the petrol station and put in 90.4 litres of diesel.
LR spec sheet says fuel tank is 89L.. so I would say I didn't have much left. 22MY Defender 110 D300 S in Pangea Green and Contrast White Roof

Not sure about the new ingenium diesels, the 2.7 and 3.0 TD and SD V6s did not like running out of fuel. The system needed 5 to 7l of fuel to prime the system, if you ran out, the potential was that you could drain the battery trying to crank it, leading to all sorts of BMS and EFI module issues.

Lowest I had my D4 was fuel light flashing, range 30km, towing a camper across Australia. Reached Kimba South Australia with just over 5l in the tank.

On the new L663, lowest I've let it get is just on the red zone. Currently averaging 10.9l/100km by the trip meter, 6900km on the clock, about 720km from a tank of fuel.

My last road trip I done 643 miles on a tank, that’s taking into account the 90 mile range I had left when I fuelled up. The 1/4 is as low as I go. 24MY 90 D250 HSE, Tasman Blue
