After 130,000 km with it. No regrets at all.
Have a Defender is like to be married. Some days you love it and others you hate it but at the end you cannot live without her (at least in my case). Cheers! Eduardo MY 2007 110 SW PUMA 2.4: Big Fog of 64' MY 1994 Jayco 1207 Folding camper: "El Tremendo" Click image to enlarge |

No regrets, but disappointing that it's so good yet so badly put together. Still gearbox #3 is better than gbs 1 and 2 and it was still more fun to drive than the Freelander and Disco4 when I eventually got it back 1953 80

I don't but do know a fair few in the industry. Working on a top secret but AMAZING project at the moment in surfing (we run a comms/PR firm) - VERY exciting. All will be revealed soon! Any surf pics Fishrider? TIG - I'm old (36), losing my hair, a bit beardy/stubbly, listen to Radio 4, moan a lot but do try to retain an ounce of my yoof where possible! Just to bore the masses: More surf (Godrevy!) Triathlon last year (sliced my foot open exiting the water this year - finished it but bled a lot and had many stitches - oops!) Click image to enlarge Bit of mountain climbing (knife ridge of the Snowdon Horseshoe) Click image to enlarge MTBing (cycle leg of an off road tri - got my only ever Gold medal) Plus a fair bit of waterskiing, running, sea swimming, etc, etc, yawn yawn apologies! Not only is there no gurning in that last pic, there appears to be a smile.... 0/10, it's a race so you're not meant to be enjoying yourself!

I completely fluffed a checkpoint/plipper just before the shot so was laughing at my utter stupidity. Plus the wife (who took the pic) made me laugh too. By the end of the running bit, my body was in full protest mode and I'm sure some gurning occurred! Defender 110XS SW gone... now VW California 180 4 Motion. |

Don't feel lazy - I just got the bug at a youngish age, mostly from surfing/surf lifesaving/martial arts/a keen interest in the Royal Marines and carried on from there. On the one hand it's handy to be fit but it can get annoying - a day without some sort of hard exercise and I get all twitchy and irritable - which is a PITA. The odd thing is that the activity I'm least interested in overall (running) is the one I'm best at - several top 5 places finishes and the strongest section on the tris I have done. Very bizarre. Had far less luck in surfing comps and bike only races. Used to do quite well in kickboxing but there aren't any good clubs down here (Cornwall - I was in Bristol for a while). I guess it's better than snorting coke/getting battered all the time. Maybe. Defender 110XS SW gone... now VW California 180 4 Motion. |

Yup, just back from the gym, same reason. MTB'ing at the weekend, once I;ve washed the salt off the Defender Training for a MTB Endurance Race in May 2012, and the Alps (bagging 4000m peaks) in July, and a possible 24-hour endurance race in October Need to keep the winter training going. This one beat us (Camped here 2 nights, but a storm blew in and made ascent too risky) last trip - going for another crack next season: We also were the last ones to see 3 Lithuanian climbers alive, who tried to ascend as we retreated, an hour later they were dead. http://www.hikerhell.com/2009/07/update-three-die-on-mont-blanc/ My 2 mates in the pic, Donny & David...now both Freelander2 owners...but I don't hold it against them Defender "Puma" 2.4 110 County Utility (possibly the last of the 2.4's) Last edited by MartinK on 30th Nov 2011 8:32pm. Has it been swimming?! Typical week (add 1-2 surfs when it's good, daily dog walks, longer weekend MTB rides and coastal runs too) is: Monday - 13 mile MTB ride in the morning (hilly), weights in the afternoon. Tuesday - 4-6 mile off road run Wednesday - 15-20ish mile night MTB ride Thursday - 4 mile run, weights. Friday - 13 mile MTB ride Nothing compared to some loony athletes but still a fair bit to many. Martin - if I had no kids, I'd be well up for those sort of events!! Just too tricky to get away long enough with a 3 yr old and a 10 month old. Defender 110XS SW gone... now VW California 180 4 Motion. |
