Yes prices are mad and it’s greedy franchised dealers buying a lot of them. My D240 was supposedly looked over by the local dealer’s used car buyer while it was in having the driver’s footwell boot wash function fixed. I had sent them a scan of the last WBAC valuation I had had a couple of days previous at over £63000. Not heard anything since. My plan had been to part ex it for a nice unregistered metallic blue IPace they had in their compound (a car that isn’t exactly flying out of the showroom doors at the moment) and continue to use my TDi300 1996 90 as my fun car.
Sod the dealers if they don’t want to talk, yesterday afternoon I signed an order for a Mini E Level3 in British Racing Green with two factory options - full dechrome and privacy glass instead and will keep the 110, sell the 90 and have a fun shopping trolley/ skate board for short local shopping trips and to keep the miles on the 110 down. Mini even offered to take the 90 in as a part ex but advised that I would more than likely get a better price selling it privately - their offer was still in excess of what I paid for it as an approved used LR in 2001 and 40000 miles ago! Today my L663 is now up to >£65000 on WBAC Pangea Green D250 90 HSE with Air Suspension, Off-road Pack, Towing Pack, Black Contrast roof , rear recovery eyes, Front bash plate, Classic flaps all round, extended wheel arch kit and a few bits from PowerfulUK Expel Clear Gloss PPF to come 2020 D240 1st Edition in Pangea Green with Acorn interior. Now gone - old faithful, no mechanical issues whatsoever ever but the leaks and rattles all over the place won’t be missed! |

Mines up to £52.5k now, if LR can’t get to the bottom of the 2wd issues then it’s away. A shame really, as I love it. 24MY 90 D250 HSE, Tasman Blue

My Defender is currently worth around £5K more than I paid for it (with 2K miles on it) with WBAC and I've just been sent an email to tell me the valuation has gone up again. It is pretty mad.

Where are you selling the 90? Looked at mini EV here but a little undecided. Quite liked the look of this one though... but totally wrong... I have only put out word of mouth feelers recently but Haven/t advertised it yet - I’m chasing up all the folks I know who have said “let me know when you are selling it now the New Defender is here”. I’ll be advertising it in the next few weeks. It’s a 1996 TDi 300 90 County HT converted to a Stationwagon with non County side facing rear benches instead of the buckets. 94300 miles MOT is through to Sept 2022, galvanised chassis - maintained with no expense spared except this year when the 900 miles it covered between MOTs didn’t really justify a full service but it did get other work done. I’ve been advised by 3 indies what I should ask for it and that has put off a few of the above “let me knows” as it’s a pretty strong valuation. Just to say my agreed valuation with insurers is £28000……… I’m not looking for that much. I bought it approved used in 2001 from an LR main dealer with 54000 miles and full service history. That flat tie Mini……. I would never be able to get into something that low. Yes the Mini EV is a bit Marmite but my 2 years with the Countryman PHEV showed me the high quality and great build that can be achieved - one unscheduled visit to the workshop in two years for a safety recall - a replacement sticky label on the 3 pin socket charger to warn that it could get a bit warm in operation! That was the sum total of work done unlike the now 7 visits my L663 has had to the work shop in 15 months! I don’t need lots of range as most of my trips are a 32 mile round trip to the nearest shops and a monthly 50 mile round trip into Glasgow. We also have unlimited charging for £10 a year for the RFID card here on Chargepoint Scotland. On a 50kW charger a full charge of the Mini 32kW battery can be done while I;m shopping too, locally we have lots of 22kW chargers too, an d they are all working but often ICE’d up…. Next door took delivery of an Ioniq 5 Exclusive last week - order to delivery was initially quoted as “maybe next March” for a low spec car - they got a call on Wednesday morning offering them a cancelled order Exclusive for the same price (I assume that the person who ordered it lost a hefty deposit) as the Premium model with the smaller battery they had ordered. Of course the accepted the offer as they got a car with the biggest battery, AWD and loaded with toys and they collected it last Friday. Daft but eye-catching! An absolute liability at T-junctions with poor visibility though. |

Beauford mini conversions have been around for years based on the original mini shell, albeit modified a bit!

I’d sell. There can only be a correction in next 12months so cash in now and ride the wait. 1951 80" S1 2.0

Yup mines up again, £53k now. I’ve no intentions of parting with it but it’s interesting to see how high it will go before the bubble bursts. 24MY 90 D250 HSE, Tasman Blue
