steering rattle
good morning folks,

my first thread here, so hopefully i am behaving correctly. sorry for my bad english as its not my mother tongue Smile

i love this forum as it helped me a lot in recent times, so thank you guys so much for sharing so much knowledge.

hopefully you can help me out with some advice on this topic:

i own an td4 90 HT and recognized a pretty unpleasant steering rattle when driving on unpaved roads and washed out lanes. its not the movement of the steering wheel that concerns me, its the rattling sound.

is this something i should be concerned of? or is this just normal? or simply too much air in my tire? Question

tire pressure might have been around 2 bar each which equals 29 psi.

i uploaded a video of it here if you wanna look:

thanks in advance for any help and kind regards from rainy austria,
christian

Hi,
Mine does this too.
I've found very slight play in one of the universal joints on the steering shaft.
It doesn't appear to have got any worse over the last couple of years and passes it's MOT so I have not changed it yet.
The Puma shafts are really expensive, but I believe the TD5 version is the same but without a heatshield around the rubber coupling (it's way cheaper than the Puma one!!)...I was thinking of making my own shield for it.
Cheers
Al

If your truck is left hand drive, you don’t need the heat shield so the td5 part is perfect!
