Clutch gone - 8k miles
Hi all

I think my clutch has gone Big Cry

I bought a 62-plate SW XS 1 year ago with just under 5k miles on the clock, I've just got it up to 8k cruising around the lake district but the clutch went spongey and then completely went this evening. Can't get it into gear at all so pushed it into a car parking space in Keswick.

Am I doomed (new clutch) or could it be something much simpler considering the mileage?

Any reassurance/ advice is much appreciated!!

Hi, welcome to the forum. You've posted this in the New Defender (L663) section, they'll be jealous they've not got a clutch Whistle

It could be a hydraulic problem, check the brake fluid reservoir level, topping it up will get you moving again.
It may be a leak in the master cylinder or slave cylinder if there is fluid loss. Probably best to change both for good quality replacements, due to very little use over a long time.

Good luck getting it fixed. Thumbs Up

Hi

It sounds as if the seal has gone in the clutch master cylinder.

Have you checked the fluid reservoir?
