South Africa 2010 Defender 110 Puma 2.4 PU Bronze Green
Rocker valve assembly
Hi All,

I have a broken rocker valve assembly. As we all know the Puma engine is a ford engine. I've got the 2.4 engine and would like to know what is the difference between the 2,4 and the 2,2 engine as all my searches for the ford replacement part is for a ford 2.2 engine.

When engine was stripped it was noticed that the engine was stripped before, so I am afraid to buy the exact parts as per the ford part numbers on the old rocker valve assembly and perhaps make the same mistake the previous repairers made.

Regards

LR004443 Same part, check there’s not more damage. Exhaust camshaft is different between 2.2 and 2.4- inlet is the same.

Ok. Thx. The parts list I've attached was from the local repairer that stripped the engine.
So I believe that's the only damage. Hopefully

You also need injector washers. Make sure the injector seats are clean. However, I am not sure if you need to remove the injectors. Puma 110" SW

I would carefully check the cam shafts and the housings, also the timing chain tensioner as to how far out it is.

When I had the rocker assembly and exhaust camshaft failing on my 2.4 earlier in the year, I got most of my replacement parts from https://www.turnerengineering.co.uk/ as you can select your vehicle in a drop down list to choose parts, hence don’t really need to bother with part numbers. Plus I know that they sell quality parts, as they are the same they use in their engine rebuilt, either true OEM or Ford, and much cheaper than from JLR.

Thx everyone. For your inputs. Will definitely follow all of the advice. Will also check out the UK spares and see how much it will work out to import compared to what it will cost here.

Is Auntie Frida also a parts supplier company?

Sorry that’s a joke-

Frida owns Turner Engineering with her husband Richard.
