harder steering after impact

Hello to all

Here I have a steering problem which has become harder since I have the shielding which has hit the drop rod of the steering box. I straightened the armor so that it no longer touches, I did road tests but since my steering is harder, the steering wheel does not return or has trouble in the central position when I let go. It pulls neither left nor right so the parallelism is still good. I also have a squealing noise when turning at low speed. What are the problems?

You say that the drop arm was bent?
Then most likely the sector shaft inside the steering box is bent too. If so, the only remedy is a replacement steering box or a new sector shaft, but probably the former option is better and possibly cheaper. 1988 90 Hard Top, 19J Diesel Turbo, Shire Blue - Restoration ongoing

I said the shield came in contact with the pitman arm. the vehicle still drives the same. Is it normal that I have no play in the steering wheel when the wheels are straight, the wheels turn directly, shouldn't the steering box be adjusted? I only have stubborn game

There should be minimal to no play in the steering gears when steering is dead straight, but will have play when getting closer to full lock (either way).

Best way to check for play is from the drop arm itself, not the steering wheel. But to do so, you would need to disconnect the drag link.
