Building a Jaguar V8 powered 90

So , its been a very long project !! I bought a 90 in 2017 to put a Jag V8 in . However it was a total rot box , with 9 months MOT !!!!
So before I could start, it took a year to sort the rust etc and get the chassis and bulkhead galvanised painted and ready to be rebuilt .
I have been looking at fitting the Jaguar V8 ... a much much much more difficult project than I first thought. However I now have the engine in the chassis, and a MANUAL drivetrain sorted ( I now understand why JLR.... very sensibly... have never produced any vehicle with this engine and a manual gearbox) .
I was not happy with the way that JLR had fitted the V8 to their Defenders as it is in on an angle, very far forward and quite high in the chassis. I have engineered mine to be approximately 100mm lower and 150mm further back , level as in the JAG, and with a 6 speed manual gearbox ( that will take the power) ...I think it needs to be as far back as possible to help with weight distribution on such a powerfull ( short wheelbase) vehicle... did I mention that this has been a VERY difficult project !! My original plan was to 'just fit the engine' them sort the more difficult problem of the ECU

But may I say this - IMHO you're making a huge mistake by going manual - this thing will be eating clutches for breakfast Rolling with laughter --

A very valid point Naks ! The clutch was indeed a big problem ..... then the gearbox, then the conversion plate then the transfer box then the props then the shafts etc, Hence I have been so long on this , The clutch has a one off billet flywheel and a road / race clutch from Australia, the gearbox , well I have a collection of 5 different gearboxes here now as we have tried various possibilities without success, until this latest one which is brilliant , 6 speed as well , and now we have the ... third iteration of the adaptor plate and 'shaft' specially machined out of some special metal . apparently the transfer box we have now will take the strain ( even tried a Toyota one with no success) So the engine is fitted and just got to finish the actual defender off, finish the headers and then design and make the ECU 1984 300TDi hardtop Stornoway Grey

Best of luck with this.
I'm keen on seeing the progress. You are paving the way for other owners considering this option.
