Interest in my daughter's 300 tdi Defender
Got these messages from my daughter today......

At a carriage driving show and a man pulled up beside us and asked to buy the 90
Said no but he had a look round it
Said he's rebuilding a heritage land rover
He came back and hour later and offered me his freelander 2 and 4 grand cash hahaha
........................................
This is not the first time some one has approached her to buy it. There are posts on here with photos of my daughter's 90. 1982 88" 2.25 diesel

Used to get the same thing with my short wheel base G463 - not many RHD SWB models were made and as a result, it wasn't a rare occurrence to come back to the car with a note left under the wipers, offering to purchase it if I considered selling.

One chap who owned a shop near me would come out once a month when he saw me parking the car and ask if I'd changed my mind about selling it. After 6-months he gave up and just started waving when he saw me.

I have had two offers for my td5 90 in the last couple of months, why are people suddenly so interested in them (tea leaves apart)!
I have owned this one for 6 years and no random interest to buy then all in last couple of months two offers!

The cynic in me says they want to buy it and bling it up then sell on for more... Confused 2004 Defender 90 Td5 CSW

I was thinking that maybe being old and a funny shape has something to do with it. Then again I discounted this as no one has ever offered to buy the wife.... 1982 88" 2.25 diesel

I have had this with the peugeot 306, someone offered me a Corsa D 1.2 XSi on an 04 plate. I was like don't be daft! 2 litre D turbo for a 1.2 corsa! Corsa would have been double the insurance for a start, and more expensive to run, not to mention they were not exactly all that either.

Last year someone knocked on the door twice, to offer to buy the 306, offered 1k for it. My dad came running in, and said a lad is here about the 306! My dad knew it wasnt for sale, but decided to waste the lads time, and tried to get me to tell the lad its not forsale. My mam had a bit of a go at him for wasting the lads time. Defender TD5 90 ---/--- Peugeot 306 HDI hatch back

When I was loading one of my (rather tatty) 80" series ones onto a trailer in 2021 to move it to a new storage location a passing motorist stopped to offer me £500 for it. Naturally I said "not for sale". He had got up to £6500 by the time the "not for sale" message sank in.

If it wasn't for the facts that (a) it was my first LR and I have a very strong sentimental attachment to it (we have shared lots of adventures), and (b) the fellow radiated pikeyness I would have been tempted. As it was I was quite glad I was loading, not unloading, and its current home is 140 miles away from that location.
