2.2 Puma glow plug replacement - some tips

Last winter I added a few posts to the thread 'cold start issues' on this forum as my 2015 Defender 2.2 Puma with 40k was problematic when starting in sub 5 deg C conditions. I checked various things ending up with measuring resistance of each glow plug (should have done this first). All readings were way above what they should be so new glow plugs have been on the agenda for a summer job. I did my homework on the forum and it was clearly going to be a nasty job so I was prepared for the worse.
I've just spent a day and a half dismantling and delighted to say all four glow plugs were removed without issues. I have recorded all I did but thought a few tips might be of interest. I've yet to reassemble so expect another day on that.
First tip - Get a can of Liqui Moly Injector and Glow Plug Dismantling Aid. The nozzle is not much use if you want to get into the glow plug recesses so I made up a long nozzle with two WD40 type pipes joined with heat shrink sleeve. I have been applying this every day for past week or so making sure I've used the Defender most days to cycle the heating of the block. Might seem excessive but certainly worked.
Second tip - Although I referred to the LR manuals and the Haynes manual for guidance there are a couple of variations on my Defender. There is no fuel cooler fitted on mine so I drained coolant by using the quick release coupling on the expansion pipe under the radiator. You can fit a bucket under here so not too messy.
Third tip - The EGR valve has to be disconnected from the steel pipe to the inlet manifold before removal. Manuals suggest you can remove the pipe with the EGR valve but there's not enough clearance to extract the pipe and EGR valve from the manifold.
Biggest problem for me was that I could not see anyway to getting on one of the throttle block bolts so I disconnected the large elbow pipe from the intercooler steel pipe and took the lot out.
Hope this is of some interest.
