Fuel leak back

I have diesel leak back when my tank is half full. This is on a ROW '06 model.

I have replaced all the leak back pipes.

I have only had this problem since I replaced the lift pump with a electric pump.

The pipes that went into the lift pump was connected to each other by means of a pipe with the appropriate fittings, no modifications needed and I can go back to original easily. The hole in the engine is blanked off.

The electrical fuel pump sits at the back near the sedimentor. Here I also didn't cut any pipes, just added pipes to make it possible. All the fittings where coated with a wax to confirm that they are not the cause of the leak back.

Friday I fitted a non-return valve near the sedimentor to see if the fuel drains back in the feed line. No luck.

But I filled the tank yesterday and it starts normally again. This is the second tank I have experienced this, the fuel level has an effect on the drain back.

So I am assuming that the fuel drains back through the return line and the problem is somewhere between the pump and the tank.

Any help will be appreciated.

Are you able to identify where it’s leaking/dripping from? As you say, the half tank trigger indicates it’s providing some form of vacuum back.

Did the electric pump make a big difference ?

I moved the non-return valve forward to the engine bay, not expecting a positive result but as the lift pump has non-return valves there, I thought I had nothing to lose.

Holding tumbs but currently it seems to be working.
