The Old Ladybird Defender At Plant Worx Peterbrough
My boss was utterly amazed at how many of you Defender 2 members popped up and said you knew the Land Rover from the internet. A few asked if it was the written-off one but no it isn't. This was my Defender 90 before the 12 plate 2.2 that clocked up the epic miles and had the accident.
This older Defender is now owned by my bosses dad our chairman and is used on the farm and for towing his boat down to Fowey a couple of times a year. My boss dusted it off for the show to demonstrate his new 3500kg towable crane range. I did warn him the Land Rover was going to be as much of an interest as the cranes.
This was me later on Thursday at the show de-rig collecting one of the cranes with the Defender's replacement the Discovery 4. I have had it 3 yrs now and that has already got 200thoou on the clock.

Was a great conversation starter for them I'm sure, and was a very fruitful chat as I got a coffee from the new coffee machine and discovered a new battery tech product which we will be trialling in the coming weeks

Good to see the old girl is still out and earning her keep every now and then. 2007 - Stornoway Grey 90 XS SW - Gone
2002 - Black Discovery II - Gone
2014 - Montalcino Red 110 XS SW

France 2002 Defender 110 Td5 DCPU Chawton White
My wife has a Disco4. Lovely vehicle, so versatile. It shares many Defender similarities but most importantly (in France) my wife can find it easily back in the Carrefour parking lot among the drab french/german sea of conformity.

It also needs regular and quirky little fixes, which I like, so it suits us.

Yes the battery supply is very clever, we are working with the supplier on much bigger ones that can run our bigger cranes. Normally we need a 50kva gen set or a 25kva 63amp mains supply. With the batteries giving the high power kick and keeping a reserve they recon we could run a crane the site offices and a silo on a 32 amp supply, constantly charging 24hrs and during the day wacking out for the short lived high demands.
Yes the new coffee machine is very good. If everything is under control you are not going fast enough.
