The crossbars have a load capacity of 94kgs, they are much easier to remove when not required and in my experience of cross bars on my D240 and the Expedition rack on a friend’s D250 the noise from the full rack is intrusive at any speed. The only noise issue I have with the crossbars is if I tilt the sunroof open then on my now departed 110 the back of the glass was under the front bar and that created some wind noise but fully opened it wasn’t there, I haven’t tried that on my 90 with crossbars.
Mounting instructions with loading for 110/130 are here https://accessories-instructions.landrover...r/G3134908 Pangea Green D250 90 HSE with Air Suspension, Off-road Pack, Towing Pack, Black Contrast roof , rear recovery eyes, Front bash plate, Classic flaps all round, extended wheel arch kit and a few bits from PowerfulUK Expel Clear Gloss PPF to come 2020 D240 1st Edition in Pangea Green with Acorn interior. Now gone - old faithful, no mechanical issues whatsoever ever but the leaks and rattles all over the place won’t be missed! |

I actually straightened the crossbars for the Freelander. Had to use blocks & in a bench vise to bend them past centre a bit. Then they would return a percentage to the bow upwards which I wanted removed. Supporting the ends & pressing in the centre on the opposite side. It took a lot of effort to straighten out the bow. Have kept about 5mm bow in them. Just standing on one will not change its shape.
We use 4 crossbars on the rails, but that is to hold all the stuff on the roof, 16kg net saving from roof platform we had. 2 crossbars would be strong enough, unless you are on corrugated roads. The issue is more the connection to the car rather than the crossbars themselves. Visitor - Freelander owner |

Just need to speak to the finance manager. At the moment the bars are a priority as we go paddleboarding more than we use the rooftent. In fact the rooftent has been in the garage for at least 5 yrs without seeing daylight. 110 D250 SE HT

I had the roof bars but managed to find a genuine rack on Ebay for £300 and it only takes about 30 minutes to remove/refit it, quicker if there are two of you Cheers Ian
