Easy Auto Transmission
I know some people have taken the auto transmission transplant route but I think they're missing a trick and a much easier 'conversion'.

I've just driven nearly 30 miles on a round trip across country and didn't shift gears until I needed to park, all the while my Puma having a manual transmission.

Magic you say?! BS you say?! Mr. Green

No! The trick?

Have a pre-driving teen as your passenger!

My son, who loves the Defender, and is desperate to learn to drive is so keen that he shifted the gears for the entire trip. Yes, I did have to push down the clutch but soon enough he got the hang of it and was as good as any auto trans Very Happy

The cost of the 'conversion' for today's trip? A cheese twist from our local baker!

The way UK insurance is going, it is almost impossible (from a cost effective perspective) to get a new driver insured on a Defender. Insurance companies seem hell bent on pushing young drivers into cars with driver assistance (collision avoidance, blind spot notification, etc etc) and if the car doesn't have these, good luck getting a reasonable premium.

In a series Landy it is the responsibility of the person in the middle seat to operate the gearstick, those are the rules 👍 2.4TDCI 90 - everyday brilliance
