TDCI 2.2 2012 warm start problem | |
Hi,
I am from Asia and I have a warm start problem with my RHD defender. My defender is 110 puma made in 2012 without DPF. It starts perfectly when the car is cold and it idles and runs smoothly without issues, it also restarts perfectly before the car get warm.
But when the car get warm, the engine only start at second attempt if I restart it within 15-20mins after engine stopped. When try to warm start the engine, I can hear the starter run normally and the engine run for few stroke but stop like no fuel reached. But the engine will start normally at second attempt
Actions conducted/ result:
Check with SDD and following fault code were noticed:
1. P0335-78 Crankshaft Position Sensor A Circuit - alignment or adjustment incorrect (only recorded when the engine fail to start at second attempt but not the first)
2. P0629-13 Fuel Pump A Control Circuit High - circuit open (got once after replaced the ignition switch)
Inertia switch checked with no issue.
Replace the fuel filter and filter head with generic parts/ no different. (The oil drained out from old filter is clean and little amount of water)
Replace the ignition switch with generic parts/ same problem but the engine will not start at second attempt but only after the engine stopped for 15-20 mins.
Replaced the fuel pump relay/ no different.
Replaced the remote battery/ no different.
Renew the security system with SDD/ no different.
Battery replaced for 6 months, voltage with/without engine run 12.6V/14.5V
Any suggestion are welcome and thanks for your time.

I found out the problem is the crankshaft sensor and the vehicle back to normal after replacement.
Cheers
