How to identify solar windscreen glass - cracked windscreen
Hi

Annoyingly 3 weeks into owning my 110, I've got a large chip to the windscreen from a stone which has turned into a 6" and growing crack. Obviously cost of replacing it is covered by insurance, albeit I've had to pay £115 excess on the windscreen cover.

I specified the solar reflecting glass (£200 option) on the car, as we spend the summer in Spain and southern France.

There was no option to tell Autoglass what type of windscreen I have fitted. I'll give them the headsup this week about the need for the right glass, but does anyone know how I can tell if what they come to fit is the right type i.e. solar glass?

TIA

Please report back on how you get on with Autoglass.

l've heard varying reports on them, and it will be good to get feedback from someone who has had a Defender windscreen replaced.

It will also have an HUD logo if you have that.

@Nuclear Nick - if you have HUD would that mean having a solar windscreen also?

I don't know if they both come together automatically. I made the comment as mine has both as standard but I guess you could have solar reduction without HUD and so it would be important to specify that when ordering a screen if the car has HUD.

Will do. The only progress I've had so far is a call cancelling my appointment, telling me it can't be fitted at home and has to be done at one of their centres due to the tech on the windscreen needing to be calibrated (fair enough). Oh, and telling me they don't have the glass and can't get hold of it so they'll call me when they find some (predictable, but irritating!!).

I had great service recently with Autoglass. Non LR screen fitted but fine. Small issue with Lane Control but they have been on top of it and I'm booked in for a new screen. Solar glass fitted.

To be honest, I've been impressed with the AG and the Swindon crew. Thumbs Up

Nothings perfect in life, its how you deal with it.I've had genuine LR screens fitted in other cars that have been a disaster with no customer service from other installers including LR. Eiger Grey MY23 D250 SE with bits. Known as Noddy.

My glass cracked in April when the car was a week old. It is now September and I am still waiting for Autoglass to sort it, has been a complete shambles. Takes 5 weeks to get an appointment in the Guildford branch. Each time I turn up they have the wrong glass. Insurer has agreed to pay for LR glass rather than aftermarket because car so new. Their comms are terrible, and the branch just keep apologising and saying nothing they can do to help as everything is done centrally and, to quote them, ‘our customer service is just crap’ (!). Send in an official complaint and had not even an acknowledgment so far…
Trying for 3rd time lucky next Tuesday.

I'm sure they would willingly do so at great expense, but as is usual I am going through my insurer as I have glass cover - so I'm just paying the £95 excess
