Hello Tom my pedal lock is bolted up closer to the dashboard and there is no gap when closed it pushes the brake pedal.

Hi Tom,
I don’t know if you found these pics on my thread, or even if they’re any use to you. They do show where my bolts are fitted, in relation to the bulkhead footwell. https://www.defender2.net/forum/topic58538-30.html Mine is currently out of the car at the moment, so if you wanted any measurements…? Donald 1994 Defender 300Tdi 110 SW - owned since 2002 - 230k miles and going strong (The 'rolling restoration' or tinkering thread: http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic58538.html ) 2000 Range Rover P38 4.0L V8 in the past.. Hi both, mine pushes the brake pedal too, enough that the car won't move.
I guess what I can't quite work out is if I had installed it any closer to the front of the vehicle, to close the gap at the A pillar, it would be too far away from the seat box when open. Also, if I had the normal screws with washers in the floor, it probably wouldn't have gone much further forward. I didn't take a photo of that, but I hope it makes sense - I will get one tomorrow. Thank you for the link to your thread donmacn, no I had not spotted the fitting of your pedal lock. I can't quite tell from your image, but does your top hinged section foul your gearbox tunnel under your handbrake and stop the thing laying flat when open and flat against the seat box? Also, are your holes in your floor very close tot he lip at the bottom of the footwell like mine? Perhaps my fitment issue is all to do with the joys I hear of each defender being individual. The most disappointing thing from my perspective is the gaps when locked, particularly at each top corner. Not that much can be done without some thought and special tools (which I won't mention on an open forum), but nonetheless I didn't expect to be able to get my hand in there. Maybe when I weld the bonnet release back in it will shrink the gap a little on the left and perhaps I can weld some extra metal in to blank it off a bit more. I can't imagine anyone will want my old rust bucket, but I do want to know it's secure if I leave it in a secluded car park in the woods to go for a walk. |
