United Kingdom 2009 Defender 90 Puma 2.4 CSW Zermatt Silver
P0190 FAULT CODE AND FIX
On return from MOT recently, my Defender 90 TDCI had picked up an annoying habit of cutting out after around 2-3 minutes as and when the revs dropped. So if idling it kept on cutting out. When driving and dipping the clutch to slow down it cut out. On higher revs and drive it was OK.
I have a few diagnostic boxes, none of them returned any fault codes. There were no dash warning lights.
I removed and cleaned the fuel filter, plus many on the electrical connectors. Then went on holiday.
On return it was still the same.
I installed FORSCAN on my laptop and got a 2 month free extended access code.
On test it returned code P0190 - Fuel Rail Pressure Sensor Circuit. I couldn't clear the fault code. I tried to do the Fuel Pump and Injector re-learn but wouldn't work, because of the fault code.
I took off cleaned and greased the VCV connector, refitted, managed to clear the fault code, ran the Pump and Injector Learn - all successful and IT GOT RID OF THE CUTTING OUT FAULT.

So I am now a big fan of FORSCAN - 2 month free licence, does a few basics on the Defender but awesome software.

Hopefully this may help some others if they have issues. 2009 Defender 90 CSW 2.4 TDCI.
Ex Army Mechanic still living the dream.
