99 Defender 110 Rear door latch replacement
Hello, i am new to defenders, and I have hit my first problem: my rear door won’t stay closed about 30% of the time. I was wondering if there is a recommended company to purchase the part through? Is Brit Part ok for latches? I have a 99 TD5 defender 110. Thanks!

Britpart have a mixed reputation... OEM would be my preference.

It might just need some adjustment/lubrication... I had a similar problem on my 110 in Zambia, but that was due to the dust... resorted to graphite dust - pencil lead to lubricate!!... any liquid, WD40 etc just gummed up with the dust.

A good mod, if you're changing locks is to upgrade all locks and ignition to a single key. Done this on my current 2001 90.

As above, they don’t usually fail its does however fall out of adjustment. Post a picture of your door when latched. If its not flush its not properly adjusted. If you do need a new latch I suggest to you that Britpart is probably just fine. 🤷‍♂️

My experience with Defender locks is - remove, bath in brake cleaner and spray the cleaner through all holes with moving all parts. Than lube with some oil in spray ( oil not WD40), and than some grease spray. Nearly nor woking locks are now better than new. During last year I made it on three cars. Previous attemp to clean it without removing from car does not work. "Drobek" = The Small One - Discovery 2, "Blufínek" = The Blue Thing - Defender 130, and for me at least Ford Mondeo Smile
