Seems that the military are looking at retro conversion for their landrovers .. would like to see this work as it would be an option for many who live in cities with exclusion zones ..
It doesn’t say what power plant will be used but it seems that the trial will be comprehensive ... https://www.topgear.com/car-news/electric/...and-rovers Poppy - TDCI (Puma) 110XS 2.2 - Camper conversion - see the build here - https://www.defender2.net/forum/topic56530.html Elgar -TDCI(Puma) 110XS Dormobile - now sold Devon & Cornwall 4x4 Response - DC126 |

Not really. They've sold off lots of LR's because they're no longer suitable for the roles that they've traditionally been used for. Heavier and more protected vehicles are now more favoured in most situations.
This trial will merely be that - a test of the technology. LR's are ideally suited as they're cheap (relatively), easy to work on and readily available to them. I don't doubt that if it's successful then the technology will find its way into other vehicles in due course.
