Optimill Rear Door Hinges - washer order
After some help, about to replace rear door hinges with Optimill ones but unsure on order and where the washer and spring washers go given 6 spring ones.

Unfortunately I cannot find any documentation despite searching.

Hopefully someone is able to advise order and on what side bodywork / door.

TIA

Hi, spring washers should be fitted directly under the head of the fastener, to bite into the screw/bolt head and stop it loosening.
I have fitted mine as follows,

Hinge to Door. - Small plain washer to the door, then spring washer. Spring washers on all 6 screws.

Hinge to body. - Large plain washers to inside of body(6) then spring washers on top and bottom hinges(4).
- I may have used extra spring washers that weren't supplied. There seems little point having them on only 1 side of the hinge.

Fitting tips.
Use anti seize on the fasteners, it will help adjustment or removal in the future. I used Weicon ASW, white paste.
Remove the spare wheel from the door, until all hinges are fitted and the door swings freely.
Remove and replace 1 Hinge at a time, suggest the middle first, don't fully tighten the screws, just nip them up.
Check the door swing each time, so that it doesn't 'tighten' and fight the hinges as it opens.
When satisfied with the open/close action, fully tighten the screws. Recheck the swing.
Finally refit wheel and check again.

I remember having difficulty getting all of the screws in, I had to bend the door frame to straighten it, and slightly increase a couple of the holes in the body. Probably why one of the original hinges snapped the pin.
It's been fine with the Optimill hinges. Thumbs Up

Thanks very much for the reply.

I looked at Optimill website and saw the grouping in the spare bolts so went with that, as yours below.

The worst one was the bottom hinge only able to get small rachet in and as such think I have rounded one of the bolt heads as not fully tightened. I’ll be ordering a replacement and think I’ll give it to a garage to replace and also whilst there get the deheaded body bolt sorted and the others replaced.

Plus side they look so much better, next is the doors 😬

Looking good. Very Happy

Yes, bottom hinge to body is difficult to access.
For those I used 2 normal hex head stainless bolts instead of the security screws. Again, just to make it easier in the future.
