Manual window questions
I have a 300tdi with manual windows. One it stuck and the other is loose!

The drivers side I can put my hand against and push down, so I have stuffed a couple of rubber wedges inside to help stop this... Although I locked my keys in the car last weekend and it was very beneficial to be able to brake in so easy. Is this a standard feature?

The passenger side is stuck fast. My garage said to put a new regulator in, so have purchased this. Watching brittania restorations, removal of the regulator requires winding the window down to slide the top wheel of the regulator out of a channel on the bottom of the window. Is it a case of dropping the whole assembly a bit and stopping with the window part way down the slide the reg out? Might be a simple question, but I didn't want to get part way and end up stuck so thought I'd ask first.

Thanks,

Tom

Done a few times on mine in various positions of window stuckness if you know what I mean.

Best way is take door panel off and see what the problem is.

You can still operate the window by putting the winder back on.

Usual problems are bent teeth on the winder or something jamming the runner.

Have a good look and lubricate everything and manually move the window.

Be careful not to damage the door lock mechanism and take a photo of the position of the plastic bits that hold the it all together. Easy to knock off and forget how they go back.

I've had the door panel off and there is no movement at all in the regulator, it seems to be stuck fast. I did start to take the piece of metal that the regulator is attached to out and the whole thing (window and all) started to drop out. Unfortunately, at that time the car was parked too close to a hedge so I couldn't open the door enough to drop the assembly out.

Maybe I'll get a second pair of hands and try again.

Sounds like the spring it the actuator has snapped
Like you say best to dismantle the whole thing and rebuild
Gives you a chance to rust proof the door frame.
Good luck
