Tabs (actually the mounting rail) should be inside the body 1999 MY onwards, but the rail is adjustable and actually sits slightly further forwards than the old type crossmember tabs, so the rear tub location is unchanged. If you have put a newer tub on old chassis with tabs located inwards you will find the tub is 5mm too far back.

Put it whichever way fits best. The only difference is where the nuts are located.
For tabs visible the nuts are on plates that rivet to the inside of the tub. For tabs hidden the nuts are welded on the tabs themselves. If you have the early type crossmember with the welded on tabs it will be easier to have them fitted as per the original tub, unless you weld captive nuts on, as getting to the back to fit nuts will be difficult for some of them. |
