exhaust gasses in coolant
ok so been experiencing coolant loss for a few weeks with fluid leaking past the coolant header tank.
Just been cionfirmed by local garage we have exhaust gasses appearing in the header tank.

So ...

head gasket failure

what else clould it be ? ...

which leads onto

head dowels. this is a 10P engine so guess its possible some of them have broken.
...so if thisis the case, can i replace them with the metal ones from a 15P engine?

If me I would pull head, and ideally replace with an AMC uprated head.

yeah I would as well ... in fact the spare 1-p engine I've got in the garage has only done 85K so yup AMC would be the way to go.

however having just spent an arm and a leg sorting out the series 3 the £1400 for the head aint an option at the moment ..

course perhaps the VVT i fitted to this one may have hsd something to do with the exhaust stuff ...

recon ill take the head off and see whats what
