I thought the new, high-tech, moron-driver-proof uninteresting vehicles JLR now makes weren't suppose to allow this. Wet grass has admittedly caught many people out, but that is just pitiful.

No amount of technology will get that out - slick road tyres can simply not provide enough tractive effort on wet grass/mud to lift a 2.5 tonne vehicle the 4-5” vertically that it needs to manage to climb out of those holes.
