Towbar electrics
Hello,
I'm fitting a towbar, do I need a relay box for the electrics or can I just connect the 7 pin plug upto the existing wiring?

Thanks

Assuming you are only fitting lighting then no need for any relays.

Thanks Steve.
It's just for an old caravan, so just the usual ,brakes, indicators, side lights etc. No charging unit or anything like that. 300tdi 90 1996.

I'd hazard a guess at a 1996 300tdi 90 Wink

Yeah, 1996 300tdi, originally a hard top, but converted to have rear windows/seats now. 300tdi 90 1996.

Not sure what model year this started but my Td5 has a plug in the rear wiring harness for the trailer wiring. In which case you can buy a harness and just plug it in

You will only need a 7 pin connector (Europe). The 13 pin connector adds features which are not needed for driving (fridge power etc)

Same in the puma.

There's a plug left to plug in the towbar electrics in the rear driver footwell
