Skeptical about that - the exhaust clearly has 2 pipes so almost certainly a V engine not an inline.

Test mules and prototypes are often a real hodge podge though so wouldn't bank on any online data (from e.g. gov't or LR themselves) to be exactly right.

Not always and hard to tell from those photos. e.g. G80 M3, the S58 engine is an inline 6, but has 2 pipes. 22MY Defender 110 D300 S in Pangea Green and Contrast White Roof

Yes you’re right but the P400 has a single pipe so would seem strange to make such a significant change to the manifolds etc. Seems most likely a V8 to me Cheers, David
Land Rovers of all shapes S3 onwards… Daily is a 110 V8.

The front under that disguise looks like the Bowler racers.

have they got anything to do with modifications?
It all looks a bit "Bowlerised" wheels, exhaust etc . But isnt Bowler JLR's AMG these days anyway?

I’ve heard Defender SV will be 600hp+ BMW engine and offered in 4 door only from a very reputable source. Sounds like it will have more rugged design than standard. $160k plus in US market.

I believe the Range Rover and RR sport use the BMW N63 4.4l V8 in the P530 models giving 523bhp. Quite an old engine now dating from 2008.

Rumours in the press are that the SVR models will use the S63 4.4l V8 developing 616 bhp. I wonder if the Defender would get that engine or be limited to the P530 engine as a replacement for the 5.0l P525 with the RR and RRS getting the more powerful (P620??) S63 unit. 110 D300 XD HSE, Carpathian, Tow pack. Air Susp pack, cold pack, hud,

That would make sense then.

I’m really disappointed that they will not be making a 90, but $160k is almost 3x the price of a base Defender, so if I were to buy there would really have to be some heavy investment in performance, technology and interior refinement. I’m guessing you’ll see forged carbon fiber accents, updated leather and the same seats from the RRS SV. Not sure beyond that though.

Ultimately anything really interesting I’ll buy from that parts catalog and install on my D90 V8, so excited to see!

"Beefier new suspension system, that seems to be hydraulic... we suspect to help increase articulation, remove antiroll bars & reduce high speed body roll etc. 👊🏾

Also shown, high clearance rear quad exhausts, rear orange recovery hoops, possible front grill lights, 33s higher ride hight, roof load. 🔥

Release is eminent and 600hp+"

Was at Eastnor Castle recently. The instructor mentioned that they had seen quite a few SVX prototypes there, they work hand in hand with the engineering team developing the car. Apparently it employs lots of clever new mechanical and electronic innovations that are different to the regular car, resulting in even more extreme off-road capability. Some of these improvements may flow down to regular models over time.
