Sorry to say this, they're not an official Landrover dealer.
They also seem to sell very expensive vehicles with lots of add ons, of very questionable taste and quality. I can't imagine why anyone would choose to buy a brand new vehicle through an unofficial dealer.  |

Send them a cease and desist threat letter by registered post, or jump in the car and motor on up to the Wirral and make a huge noise in their showroom on a Saturday morning when they are most likely to be busy Jumped ship to reliability - Mitsubishi L200

SMC are not overly far from me. I can take a drive past on eve and see what the showroom looks like ?

That would be really kind.
I think they're genuine, website looks good, etc and they do seem to have stock of other vehicles. It just seems really strange to me that they ordered my car May 21' I then confirmed my purchase of the vehicle in Oct 21, where they then gave me a delivery date of April 22'. They still have my £5000 deposit but they will not give me ANY idea of a delivery/build date. I could probably ask for my deposit back but then I will end up paying a premium for a new one or I go to my dealer and wait another 12 months. Rock and a hard place come to mind |

SMC still appear to be open and trading. They have a tricked up white 110 in the showroom and some Jeeps outside along with some VW transporters for hire 1999 Defender TD5 110

Definitely call in to see them, if they are not returning your calls.
Two years is ridiculous. You can get some versions now with a lead time of 6-9 months. Not the Commercial though. Ask them to show proof of ordering. l do know that my local LR Indy ordered a 90 Commercial around 18 months ago from Sytner and have heard nothing. I have a feeling LR are putting traders and dealers at the back of the queue. Odd that they're not returning your calls though. l wonder if they've had yours and sold it for more than list price. Someone with more money than sense may have seen the order and offered £10k over list? |

If you are thinking of getting a train up to come and see them, there are no local stations. 1999 Defender TD5 110

Hopefully you payed by credit card? You might need it.
I ordered my D250 SE in July from LR dealer and got it in October. There seems to be no reason why its taking 22 months. I'd be driving up there for £5k. |

Agree with Simon, I waited 15 months and that seemed to be the exception rather than the norm. For 22 months I'd be jumping up and down on their forecourt making a fuss 110 D250 SE HT

The Defender I ordered was as follows:
110 D250 SE Commercial Eiger Grey Premium LED Headlights with signature DRL ,Detachable Towbar, 12 Way Heated, Electric Memory Front Seats in Ebony Grained Leather, Front Centre Console Refrigerator Compartment, Ebony Headlining, Heated Steering Wheel, Meridian Sound System, Interactive Driver Display, Comfort and Convenience Pack, Cold Climate Pack. The thing is they will give me my deposit back no problem but I loath to pay a premium for a used vehicle which would be my only other option. Really good feedback though guys, very helpfull |

Similar to you my order is roughly the same as yours, apart from I have no fridge, mine is blue not grey, no comfort and convenience pack.
I paid my deposit on Sept 1st 2021, after a few reorders it was collected on Jan 13th 2023. You should of had some news by now, looks like they took your money and either haven't ordered or haven't bothered chasing their dealer. Imo:
1/ 5k is a huge deposit to pay when the norm from LR dealers is £1k 2/ Prices for new Defenders increased last year - is SMC going to honour your original cost price? Most LR dealers charge the new prices. 3/ SMC presumably charging an additional margin over and above what would have been a main dealer price 4/ JLR appear to prioritising high spec Defenders rather than commercials which might have caused a delay 5/ SMC accounts are available foc online 6/ Pre owned Defenders starting to drift slightly now as more coming into the mkt ..but 110 commercials would be few and far between. 7/ What is the clinical build date? If this is n/a then there’s little point in the deposit being retained. |
