I want to fit a Nak. shock absorber to the back door and need to remove the cladding. I know the two screws on the grab handle come off but there are no other clues how it's attached. I'm guessing there are some clever clip-things all over the place but before I break them and balls the whole thing up, please can anyone give some advice?

As you say remove the grab handle retaining screws and then it's a case of easing or tugging the door card away, you should be able to feel / come across the location of the fixings as you work your way around - they just pull out [with care] of their sockets in the door frame. I've not found the need to use a tool to get the card off, the worse bit is getting the small panel behind the door interior handle off and away which allows clearance for the card to come away from the handle. Steve.

Was this of any use or was typing it a waste of effort?

Oh God - really sorry
![]() ![]() ![]() Got distracted from the damper for a while as it's been peeing down with rain here for days ![]() Also spent too much time yapping on other topics ![]() However, just went outside and tugged at the corner of the cladding a bit and it just popped out of one of the fasteners so I see no problems with the others (yet). Thanks again ![]() Matt Tell someone you love them today because life is short. But shout it at them in German because life is also terrifying and confusing... |

Just take it easy and they will pop / snap in and out. IIRC there are one or two toward the middle but you can feel them easily enough as you work around the others. Just watch out for the small removable plastic panel behind the interior door handle as once out of the way it makes getting the door card away from the handle possible. Steve.

Thanks - hopefully nice weather this weekend so I'll let you know how I get on.

Your need to drill the holes.
And once it's fitted don't let the door open to quick as the ram has quite a force behind it. ![]() |

As MOG says the outer clips on the door trim will pull away with a little bit of gentle persuasion. The one in the centre of the door panel trim is slightly more awkward. After loosing all the external clips lift the door trim UP about 1/2" or 12mm. The centre clip is a U shaped clip fasten to the door with a 'mushroom' head bit on the door trim. Pulling the door trim downwards breaks the mushroom head.

Many thanks for the tip - I usually break these sort of things so at least I may have a fighting chance...

All done - many thanks to you all. On my 2011 Puma the middle clip is the same as the others but is tricky and I would have broken it if I hadn't unhooked it first - good tip ![]() Cheers Matt Tell someone you love them today because life is short.
