2.4 TDCI Turbo Replacement from TurboDiesel.cc?
Hi All,

I have a terrible noise coming from my turbo, its almost like the turbine wheel is catching on the main housing. I'm getting it looked at to make sure i'm right in my diagnosis, whilst looking for replacement turbos, £650-700 tends to be the rule of thumb from places like LRparts and sparespaddock. I'd want to do it myself just to save some money understand it could be a pig.

I have seen a London based company https://turbodiesel.cc/ they sell one for only £450 that's with out 150 refund when they receive my old unit. Has anyone had any experience with London Turbochargers? or is the £700 option a safer bet.

Any advice is appreciated.

Cheers

It’s easy to check for wear in your turbo just by gaining access to the turbine, and trying to move it about.
Be careful of companies who rebuild yours, after “assessing it for you”. They can then shove the price very high, and even above a brand new unit. Also many companies don’t have the turbo, that their website says they do have. I got really messed about last year with having a turbo rebuilt and that was via one of the very well know companies who just attempted to rip me off. Lies start to finish. In the end I just bought brand new, as I wanted it sorted asap. (Mine was not on Defender)

But the 2.4 Defender turbo is an easy, but fiddly job. Easy for anyone to do.

Can't help on your specific query, but would recommend calling turbo technics. They supply brand new Garrett turbo's at an unbelievably good price > 110 XS Double Cab
