I am led to believe that there is still a pandemic shortage of tyres arriving in to the UK. Or at least that is what my local tyre bloke tells me.
It is incredibly frustrating when webshop stocks are not live... In this day and age it shouldn't be that difficult to do. I know there are just in time related reasons for not having live stock but for me it does grind my gears a little... |

It grinds my gears as well. Just no excuse for lack of realtime update or every 1hr updates. Even a note saying out of stock would have done. I did mention this in the email back to the supplier. 1999 Defender TD5 110

BFG apparently makes its tyres in batches, if it's just made a batch there's a glut, but if it's been a while since the last batch there's likely to be a shortage until the next batch. KMs have always been problematic in the regard.

I was trying to find some back in June/July and was told there was no build slot as such allocated, so nowhere could tell me when/if they'd get them back in stock.
In the end I ordered 265s instead, at a cost of having to change the wheels Alex 2013 2.2 TDCi Puma Hard Top https://www.defender2.net/forum/topic72473.html |

I spoke to ATS as they listed (again like others) you could arrange for a tyre fitting but the local branch have none in stock, and within ATS the only place was in Tavistock and I am not even close to that branch.

I’d assume Ineos have soaked up a large order of the BF’s judging by the first car off the production line. 2008 2.4 110 Utility Station Wagon XS.

I spoke with a tyre supplier yesterday the suggestion was 16 weeks before a delivery(or news of), partly due to the manufacturing being in Europe and over there some countries have mandatory winter tyres of which BFG will be making rather than normal tyres. 1999 Defender TD5 110

I’ve been looking this week for wheels and tyres.
Seems a shortage of both… Was thinking of wolf rims with 235/85, but may have to change to steel mods with 265/75. Or whatever I can get that’s not a rip off… Was looking for AT3’s as BFG’s expensive, particularly now I’ll be paying more tax Been offered some less common brands but not keen. Been told by one supplier there is a rubber shortage…?? Cheers Rob |

Click image to enlarge Hi, struggling to find a set of new BFG 235/85/16 for my Heritage90. Found 5 Conti’s today but aesthetically they look too ‘car’ like for a Heritage which was intended to look like the original hence imho needs chunky tyres. 3 peak symbol is also required as it lives in France for most of the year. Thanks in advance! |
