Help, Puma headlights, instruments & wipers not working!
Hi all, driving home tonight and headlights went out, also temp and fuel gauge went off and the wipers also working. Main beam, side lights and dash lights still working along with indicators. Checked all the fuses under dash and seat and all look okay.

Thinking maybe a relay but seems a wide range of failures for one relay, any ideas? Battery connections all, okay.

Might be worth checking the ignition switch. Just because you're offended doesn't mean you're right.

Hi, had the instrument panel and cowls off today to take a look at the ignition switch connection's, all look okay. Is there anything else to check before I bite the bullet and order a new one?

Went through all the fuses again in the daylight with a multi meter and all check out okay. So symptoms again are,

No instrument power, ignition lights, glow plugs, fuel and temp gauges, rev and Speedo. Dash will light up when sidelights are on.

No head lights, washers, wipers, windows.

Will start (after a couple of attempts, don’t think the preheat is working) and drive okay, side lights indicators and break lights working. Red immobiliser dash light working as normal.

The Tracker has also sent out a couple of alerts.

Is there anyway I can bypass/link out the switch to verify.

If I do need to change it, is the Lucas one okay? and it looks a bit of a pig to get the ignition lock snap off bolts out, so if anyone has done this before would appreciate some guidance or link to some pics.

Thanks in advance for any help!

The ECU wouldn't power up if you'd lost all the ignition circuits - so it wouldn't start. I don't think it's the switch as you wouldn't lose just some of ignition circuits.

The common link to all the above is Fuse 15 (5 Amp). Check it again!  1988 90 Td5 NAS soft top

Hi Martin, is that under the steering column or under seat fuse, diagram shows under steering column as 15amp front wash/wiper and under seat as a 20amp accessory socket? It’s a 2009 hardtop.

What diagram are you using?

The under seat fuse for the acc socket is Fuse 2 Confused

Anyway, check fuse 15 under the column.

Very early Pumas (2007) have a different wiring scheme for the ignition circuits.  1988 90 Td5 NAS soft top

Thanks Martin, I’m embarrassed to say fuse 15 had blown! Not sure how I missed it, less haste more speed comes to mind. Just spent the last hour putting the column/dash and steering wheel back together and all now working, lights, wipers etc.

Engine management light is staying on but I’m guessing that may clear after a few starts.

Thanks very much for the info, saved £70 on a new ignition switch and the grief of changing it.
