Its not on the bodywork who cares?

They look like cast iron brackets and casings, they'll get surface rust almost as soon as the car is built, it's not an issue but if you want to stop it, spray the parts with WD-40 or better still a clear rust proofing spray.
Don't spray it on manifolds or exhaust/turbo |

Best stuff I’ve found for rust proofing and preserving motorcycles is ACF50.
Also, there seems to be an issue with the end of that silver flexible pipe in the foreground? |

XCP is great stuff, sprayed it on everything underneath my 2020Jimny
Two years later it all still looks new, most others l've seen have surface rust on various parts. That silver pipe is just a heat shield, the actual pipe is inside |

Do you guys have the same rusting in your Defenders? Any kind of rust doesn't feel right to me in a brand new vehicle...

I stand to be corrected but that appears to be the cast iron turbo and as such it is correctly coloured!
Trendy designers stick Corton 10 (?) all over buildings and think it looks nice, (just looks rusty to me) On a serious note, I don't ever recall seeing a turbo on anything that wasn't rusty. HTH Keith |

Don't lose too much sleep: the engine will have blown up, the chassis will have rotted through, or you'll have sold or written off the vehicle... LONG before any odd cast-iron components will have rusted through ("they all come like that, Sir").

Most manufacturers solve this with more plastic covers. Even so most owners never open the bonnet so why the plastic covers.

I think nothing now having had a closer look. It seemed as if it was split and peeling open but now I believe it’s wiring loom adjacent that fooled me. |

Did you read my post? Those are cast iron components and will acquire a surface rust coating almost immediately.
Don't look at the hubs behind your wheel centre caps! Or the brake discs |
