Can anyone please tell me the correct crimp tool required for the terminals on switch connector YPC10524 (which plugs into the heated window switch).
https://defenderupgrades.co.uk/product/ypc...-contacts/ Looks similar to Molex style, maybe slightly larger? Cheers! |

Have crimped many terminals, albeit never for a Defender. Have one very similar to this, and worked a treat every time. https://www.amazon.com/TUBTAP-Crimping-Connectors-0-5-1-5mm²-Terminal/dp/B09GYFKT6F
It is important that the wire is stripped correctly. The outer part of the crimp goes over the plastic insulation to have a good mechanical anchor. 1988 90 Hard Top, 19J Diesel Turbo, Shire Blue - Restoration ongoing 2012 90 CSW, 2.2TDCI, Santorini Black |

I seem to recall that the crimp tool for Econoseal connectors fits those (at least I think that was the one I used last time). Essentially it is incredibly similar to the one linked in Dinnu's post above, except many times more expensive.
The cost of tools such as the one in Dinnu's link is now so low that there really is little point trying to effect a good crimp by other means, you'll never get a result as satisfactory. |
