[Wanted] Log Splitter
I know it's the wrong time of year to be buying.
I had an agreed purchase for a nice petrol log splitter but then the vendor pulled at the last minute, when I say last minute, I mean as I'm getting into the car to go and collect it.
So I have need of a petrol splitter.
I have an axe and a maul but I have a pile of oak from 3 fallen trees. So need to process it quickly so farmer can get his land back rather than store my firewood on it.

I can find a few companys but they all have bad reviews, and all seem to have 5% off at the moment which is strange at this time of year.

So does anyone have a splitter for sale or know of one. Or stockists that don't have a lead time of early Jan. 110 D250 SE HT

That is an option I'm looking at but I see that as dead money. But if push comes to shove then it may be the route I need to go 110 D250 SE HT

I have a maul and an axe, also a bad back and knees from 24 yrs in the forces, but apperently that has nothing to do with humping the world on my back around the world for that time. 110 D250 SE HT

I can understand that. We used to have an electric/hydraulic vertical splitter which did many many years of splitting. The old man just replaced it with an electric splitter and tells me it is much quicker. Might be worth knowing. Thumbs Up

After god knows how much time on the net looking, the elctric splitters are generally faster but not as powerful.
But the wood I have to split is 150m from a plug socket. I'm not sure how it would work with daisy chaining 5 extention leads together would work. Can't imagine it being that safe.

I have a plan though if I can't find 1 to buy. Cut it all up into rings, then hire a splitter for a week and do the splitting all in 1 go with the wood prepped ready.
Going to be a hard couple of days though 110 D250 SE HT

Mark, hire a hydraulic one on a tractor or digger for the day, job done.

avoid any splitter than involves having to lift the wood off the floor anything more than 6" if your working with large lumps. Cheers

JST, hiring is the way forward currently but a lack of tractor is the issue with your plan. How much is tractor hire? Rolling with laughter 110 D250 SE HT

When I say farmer it's 12 acres and he keeps horses. He has no tractor, does have a Cat but not sure it has an option of plugging in the hoses for a splitter 110 D250 SE HT
