Hello
Looking at a small generator around 2KW, this type of thing, LPG also would be better but understand these are a lot more? https://www.machinemart.co.uk/p/clarke-ig2...generator/ Anyone recommend one? |

I had a robin generator for years no problems at all , I find when buying this type of equipment buy the best you can for your money I’d go hor a Honda or similar

If you do buy a petrol generator, use an additive (like ethanol shield) with the fuel as there is nothing worse than needing the generator to start, and the petrol has gone off.
I would recommend anything with a Honda engine. The more you pay, the better the quality. I’m not knocking Machinemart, and I have lot’s of Clarke equipment but it is built to a price. Saying that, I have seen plenty of market traders using Clarke Generators. It’s not all bad. |

i used to use a cheapo 2-stroke genny and it was awful, forever not running right and needing attention.
Got a Honda eu2200i and it’s been absolutely perfect. But they are expensive! |

I would second Landymatt's suggestion of the Honda eu2200i, superb quality and with the benefit of the ultra reliable Honda engine. I know they are pricey and if looking at something a little less expensive then I would take a look at the Hyundai HY2000Si. Defender 90XS SW

Depending on usage have you considered a solar generator/power station? I use one to power my camper and it can be charged by AC, DC or Solar. Various battery and inverter sizes, no noise, no fuel to mess about with.

I have one of these for portable mains power. It gets used for pumps, power tools, iPads/phones etc. Sure, it won't deliver 2Kw all day like a petrol generator, but it's virtually silent apart from the cooling fan and recharges very rapidly from 240Vac, and less rapidly from DC/solar sources.

Jackery are the paid influencers power bank of choice.
They threw money at YouTubers to plug their products and it worked for a while, there are much better options out there. |

I just received my Bluetti EB3A yesterday. I intend to use it for my Domestic fridge in the Def.
I wanted the bigger 70 model, as it was on sale at local tools markets but I thought if they do have it, there will soon be a newer model with better functionality. Bluetti do use LiFePO4 batteries. Interesting re these other makes being superior to the Jackery which I’d assumed were the leaders.
Looks like ecoflow do use those fancy batteries too.. this was in the link that was posted above - “Built to last 6x longer - Get 10 years of daily use until hitting 80% of its original capacity. That’s down to its LFP battery chemistry giving you 3000+ cycles.“ |

Some of ecoflow's models are LiFePO4, but some are standard Li-Ion.

Yes on the expensive ones. The smaller models I checked not. So I decided to go to the smallest Bluetti. I wanted the EB70 but it doesn't have the advanced features of the other models so I went for the smallest model EB3A which I think is enough for my needs. A friend of mine has the EB70 in his old Defender 110 and he told me that's enough for 3 days for 4 users when overlanding. (fridge, smartphones, laptop) I will upgrade when the successor of the EB70 comes. As for EcoFlow their build quality seems to be better and the design is better too, though Bluetti isn't bad.
