Hi all,
I am after the rear acoustic cover which attaches to the rear of the cylinder head on the TD5 engine. It appears on the part diagram (item 13) https://www.lrworkshop.com/diagrams/land-r...over_53204 but I am not sure I have ever seen on fitted to a Defender engine. They seemed to be on all of the Discovery engines though. Hopefully someone has one of these kicking around somewhere? Cheers, Steve 02' 110 TD5 Double Cab Rebuild Thread |

Never seen and am surprised it’s listed as Defender. Are the holes there for it to bolt too?

Yeah me neither. Couple on ebay but they are £30 + p&p.
Holes are certainly there on the back of my AMC head. Steve 02' 110 TD5 Double Cab Rebuild Thread |

I imagine that ex-Disco2 ones are quite often available.
Anyone who has tried to refit one to a Disco2 will know that it is as near to impossible as it is possible to get, without actually being impossible! There is also an extremely well-placed projection on the bulkhead on the Disco2 which is guaranteed to rip most of the skin off the back of your hand as you struggle as swear whilst attempting to refit the hateful thing! What did surprise me is the increase in engine noise level that running without it on the Disco made, this is in the end what made me decide that the scars caused by refitting would be justified. |

Just to confirm, D2 acoustic cover fitted to the rear of the cylinder head of my 15P engine (with AMC replacement head). The part number shown in the diagram (FS106167L) is M6 x 16mm bolts which is not long enough to attach it. I have used some M6 x 20mm bolts instead.
