The 2.0 litre engines are underpowered and prone to failure I believe, though I’ve never driven one and am only going on second hand information there.
And the less said about the V6 crankshafts the better ![]() |

Never owned a D5, for various reasons.
However I have had loan cars for reasonable timescales with either engine in them. I actually liked the 4pot better than v6. However I was not paying for the maintenance etc. The small engine is slightly vocal when worked hard, but not unpleasant. From over on the discovery forums, the both options of 4 or 6 cylinder seems to have failure. It’s a lucky or unlucky dip. Go test each type and go with what you like best, with a good warranty. 👍🏽 |

Can you stretch to one of the newer ingenium engines? I’ve got the D300 in the RRS and it’s super smooth, rapid and reasonable on fuel.
