Is there enough clearance to turn it upside down? Failing that, you could fit a standard terminal to your cable and mount a replacement mega fuse remotely. Darren

No, there isn't enough room to invert the connector.
I was thinking that if I cut off the connector along the yellow line, I could then get a normal terminal and connect to each other with a small section of 50mm cable. |

The megafuse is a recent addition (introduced with the Puma) and I suspect was only fitted for type approval or regulatory reasons. Its sole purpose, as far as I am aware, is to lessen very slightly the risk of fire in the event that you have a hard frontal collision which causes the starter (and possibly alternator, I can't recall offhand if this is also connected via the MF, I think not) cabling to short to ground.
It is however highly likely that cable damage could occur which turns your vehicle into a fireball long before the MF blows and personally I think the MF is of very questionable benefit. If you are seriously worried about fireballs, fit a manual isolator (and do your best to remain conscious and cable during a serious accident). You could combine an isolator with an inertia switch if you are really worried. Remember that deleting the MF makes you no less safe than you would be in an earlier Defender anyway. |

I personally would fit a manual isolator switch to the front of your seat box. You could then remove the mega fuse and connect your cable to switch and insert new 50 mm tail to switch from battery. That way you can easily isolate power to vehicle that’s within easy reach of the driver seat.

Just take the megafuse out of the holder down the side, reterminate and put it in a new holder, coupled with a short link lead. I've done this with my batteries. If you need more info just let me know. North Cumbria Search and Rescue - Team Leader
