It certainly drew the crowds in as the road was jammed with rubberneckers. Needed my Defender to get off the road and pass Ride like you stole it!!

I can only imagine the conversation going on at the controls when it became obvious it was not going to stop on the runway! 1984 One-Ten CSW

The story, if I recall, was that a control jammed for two extra seconds whilst they were taxiing.
I wonder what the true story was ![]() Must be good fun to be able to run one of those up and down a runway ![]() Must be better fun being able to fly in one. It seems the last one that was able to fly needs to find a new home since the news that Doncaster Sheffield Airport is to close. |

It found a new home at Wellsebourne some time ago but unfortunately will never take to the skys again unless the CAA relax their regulations or hand it over to the RAF both of which are highly unlikely. We live in the flight path of DSA and saw XH558 flying over on many occasions. Defender 90XS SW

The 'Vulcan to the Sky' guys up at Doncaster are still hanging onto to a hope that the CAA will let XH558 do a ferry flight to a new airport.
https://vulcantothesky.org/news/ I can imagine what the crowds would be like if it did!! ![]() |

At least XM575 was stationary last time I parked underneath her

I try not to hold on to regrets, but I do regret never seeing a Vulcan in flight. Even today, it still looks ‘modern’ (I know the cockpit would disagree with my statement).
Great photo, Camelman ![]() I think the Vulcan at RAF Waddington Lincolnshire (used to stand beside the A15) has been moved for some renovation work? |

I'll be honest, I've stopped going to airshows since XH558 retired.
I took my kids down to East Midlands airport on its final flight and we sat under the perimeter fence as it screamed overhead. They were only 5 but at least they can say they saw it! XM575 is intact and on display at the east midlands aeropark where I volunteer. ![]() |

Have had the pleasure of an extreme low level 'fly-over' whilst at York Airfield and it was stunning.....

We used to get one flying over Weston-super-Mare when there was an air day on. Great aircraft to see flying at low level. It would set off just about every car alarm. Mike
