Probably they do if they are solvents, but I would not want the crap to be ingested by the engine. Very easy to scratch a bore I think. 1988 90 Hard Top, 19J Diesel Turbo, Shire Blue - Restoration ongoing

Was thinking the same, not really sure I want all that crud going into the cylinders.

Years ago, there used to be a product called 10K Boost - it might still be available, I guess - that you'd spray into the turbo, and it would produce huge clouds of white smoke. It made a big difference in the 300tdi engine but I've no idea whether that sort of thing is a good idea for a modern diesel.

By far the best I have come across and is actually the cheapest out there!
Wurth have their own brake cleaner, it’s a byproduct of jet fuel manufacturing I believe? But it’s so good with anything oily of greasy, it dries really quick, leaves no residue and only £2.50 for a litre bottle! I cleaned mine last weekend and changed the glow plugs. I also changed the rubber gaskets 2016 Range Rover Autobiography 4.4 TDV8 2010 110 XS Utility 2.4TDCI 2010 Range Rover Sport TDV8 (gone) 2007 Discovery HSE TDV6 (gone) 1993 110 csw 200 tdi (gone) 1994 90 HT 300 tdi (gone) 1994 discovery 300tdi (gone) 90 hybrid 3.5 v8 (gone) Range rover bobtail 3.5 v8 (gone) |

10k Diesel was fabulous Used it on many TDi Land Rovers and it was incredible at removing oily residue and caked on deposits from the intake. Made such a difference to an engine that wasn't tinkered with. Great stuff. Suspect it has been banned now due to the billowing smoke |

Yes they do work, but they are not a cure-all. As said above I have used 10K diesel and a heap of others after that became unavailable. The last was Lucas diesel egr and turbo cleaner (below) on our 2008 Freelander 2. After replacing the timing belt and intake hoses with silicone items (two original items had split) I noticed there was a decent amount of oily residue in the system so figured that it was likely that the EGR valve and VGT turbo were unlikely to be working as freely as they should be. Gave this Lucas product a go and blow me what a difference it made... Phoebe's turbo is definitely working as it should do and she positively shifts like the proverbial goo off a very shiny shovel... Does make me want a VGT on Miffy though https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B0785M...&psc=1 |

That lucas spray is supposed to be post turbo. On The Freelander2 I sprayed it in to the inlet manifold.
The 10k Diesel you could spray in to the turbo. As it happens I found someone on eBay selling the stuff a while back, must be new old stock... https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/324315838419?ha...BM_o6I0-5g |
