Chile 2007 Defender 110 Puma 2.4 SW Stornoway Grey
Bye bye transfer
Big Cry Big Cry

Hi to all there!

Sad news: After 350.000 km the transfer went out with a nice clank-clang-clonk noise.

Due the damage my Indy believes that is better change it by a new (refurbished) one instead to change the pinions, etc.

Any reliable source of refurbished transfers that can provide one that can export it to Chile?

Cheers! Eduardo

Your first port of call should be Ashcroft transmissions https://ashcroft-transmissions.co.uk/

Thanks for all the answers.

Still, I don't have a complete damage assessment (today I will have more ideas)
When they check the oil a lot of steel shavings came out from the transfer, so I expect that part of the pinions went out.

According to my Indy, due the amount of shavings, the damage is major and due the cost of the pinion replacements and to be in the safe side it is better to change the transfer than replace the interior.

I already have an offer for a refurbished one at a reasonable price (considering that should be shipping by air to Chile) with 1 year of guarantee.

I already check with Ashcroft but the price is higher than the one that I already quote.
I will check with winchester gears.

Cheers! Eduardo
