folks - my daughter has a 2007 mini which is all good but we want to get it fitted with some form of hands free.
as the radio is not a straight forward single variety I think it rules out a head unit swap so looking for some advice / recommendations for a generic retro fit. not looking to spend big bucks but would also like to avoid some cheap chinese carp. |

There are some Parrott basic system still available new on e-bay. I had one of these fitted to my 2005 RRS TDv6 - they didn’t get the full handsfree built in until 2008MY, mine came with a cradle under the centre cubby box lid that only worked with Nokia phones…

How about something like this?
https://www.amazon.co.uk/Clydek-Bluetooth-...b_title_ce So long as your daughter's mini has an FM radio, it would work. My daughter has something similar in her Fiat 500. You tune it to an unused FM frequency on the car radio. Hers works really well and we have saved it as one of the preset channels. Only downside is that unless you are streaming music/radio from the phone, you need to select the FM prestet channel to take or make calls if listening to another radio channel or CD on the car radio.. |

Before having a radio with bluetooth handsfree, I used to have one of the Jabra handsfree kits that just clip onto the sun visor. Pretty decent quality too.
Another alternative would be a Blue Parrot headset. Some of them are designed for truck drivers, so have amazing noise cancellation. I use a B250-XTS for working at my desk. It's overkill for my quiet location but does hide the sound of our cockerel! |

I highly recommend these, had one in my 90 for well over 10 years. At Christmas just gone I bought a used one on ebay for £25 for my sons Polo. I had kept the wiring diagram from my 90, it works fab, it was a bit mucky, but it cleaned up a treat. 2007 90 Puma - Love it - Best car I have ever owned. 1989 Ninety 200tdi - Love it - Second best car I have ever owned. 1951 80" Series 1 - Love it - Third best car I have ever owned. |
