Thule has used the new Defender in it's latest rooftent products.

I'm looking for a small tent and still have enough place on the original roofrack. My Yakima tent is great but a pain to fold down. It takes me 20 minutes to pack it up if I'am alone. 22MY Defender 110 (actual) | 10MY Freelander 2 (history) | 15MY Discovery Sport HSE (history) |

I know the iKamper tents.
The hardshell tents are all setup and fold down quickly, but many have issues with condensation. A French mag had a great test with all kind of rooftents, they came to the conclusion that only the Baroud tents do new developments with humity as they use new materials. Except for Baroud and Autohome all rooftents use some PVC ripstop material which leads to condensation. With 2 persons in a tent loosing >4 liter of water (without bedsport ) per night it's a lot. I also want place on my roofrack, all hardshell tents are big, except for the iKamper Mini 3 or the Roofnest Condor small. My actual tent gives me room for a big box and 2 Jerry cans. The new Thule Approach can be setup up in any direction this leaves me 94 cm place to put other gadgets on the roofrack. It's actually the same setup I have now. The ladder opens to the rear so I can still open the rear door of my Defender plus have a protection unter the tent. This way I only need a simple awning (will come next month) on one side of the car. No need to put a 270° awning.
