Tdci instrument cluster stopped working
Can anyone help?

2015 tdci was working fine. But then yesterday I went out and the entire house instrument cluster appears dead.
No dials, lcd dark.

Red alarm lights, and indicator flashers still work.

Checked all fuses - all good.
Earth point on bulkhead under bonnet looks good.
Even disconnected and reconnected harness to cluster. All seems good.

Any thoughts on what else I can check?

Ta

Right if the alarm LED is operating, the permanent supply is OK.

If some warning lights [hazard/unlock direction indicators] work then the ground is OK.

This points at the ignition supply.

Fuse 4P in the fuse box on the bulkhead (under the steering wheel) is where the ignition supply comes from, it also feeds:
 • Heated rear screen switch
 • Heated front screen timer
 • Headlamp ignition control relay
 • Ignition feed relay for: electric windows, heated seats, rear washer, rear wiper relay

Nice one! Had completely forgotten about those and had only checked the ones under the seat

F4 was intact - but removing and reinserting seems to have sorted things
(F5 is missing - don’t know what that’s for?)

Maybe time to put some electric grease on all the fuses !

Thanks again!

The orientation of the fuses mounted in that fuse box in that manner is asking for high resistance issues and loose fuses. $W33T $0U7H3RN $UG4R

I've got the same problem, all fuses intact, have indicators and backlights on dash but no symbols like glow plugs or battery light. I've taken out all the fuses to check them.
Tried disconnecting the battery still no joy.
I have rear window wiper and spray.
No rear window heater.
Not registering, revs, speed or fuel and temperature, doesn't record mileage either.
I've followed Martin's advice above.
Any help appreciated.

Heated rear screen switch Not working
Heated front screen timer Don't think I have this
Headlamp ignition control relay Lights are working
Ignition feed relay for: electric windows, heated seats, rear washer, rear wiper relay electric windows not working now, but have rear wash and wiper.

I would have said Fuse 15 is the common fuse for all of these, but you say your headlights do work.

Worth a check of that anyway...  1988 90 Td5 NAS soft top

Thanks, I'll try replacing the fuses with new ones just in case.

Bow down Martin thank you so much Fuse 15 and 20 changed and it's all back fully functioning.
I'd bought a bumper box of fuses just in case but only needed a 5 and a 10 amp. Thumbs Up

Cheers,

Craig

Something on similar lines. 2.4 Puma. Reversing light stopped working. Checked bulb and fuse both O.K.so I changed the reverse switch, still no reverse light. So to double check I changed the bulb and the fuse and still no reverse light. 1982 88" 2.25 diesel

Is your reverse light switch being activated by the gearbox ? worth testing with a meter.
There was a topic on here where the arm in the gearbox was worn and not depressing the reverse switch, so discounting that is a good start to localising the fault. Then work back from there checking wire continuity including earth and bulb holder.

Not long after I bought my Puma the reversing lights packed up and it turned out that this was because the switch was not screwed fully home in the gearbox. It was, at least, an easy fix, but one which would have been cheaper had I not already bought a new switch.

Same issue 2.2 Defender
Hi, I've got the same issue. Instrument cluster is dead, no rev counter, no speedo, Fuel, temperature etc.
Lights & indicators work, rear heater works everything else seems ok other than the instrument cluster.
