Result!
Fixed it this morning after reading this Technical service bulletin https://onedrive.live.com/?authkey=%21AJfe...mp;o=OneUp In-line fuse P110 tucked under the wiring loom under the seat although not blown was making poor contact. Cleaned, replaced and now running. Telltale symptom was the temperature gauge on max which I hadn’t noticed. Thanks Ianh for the suggestions Click image to enlarge 2007 TDCi 90 XS |

Great news, just shows that if you keep working your way through all the possibilities you finally get there.
A bad contacting fuse buried in the loom is a very hard one to find though. |

What a stupid place for a fuse.... didn't LR think to maybe deploy said fuse in somewhere handy where all fuses gather together, like a "fuse box"

Sadly I think LR has rather forgotten what a "fuse box" is or how it works. When I bought my '07 Defender, I had a number of strange electrical gremlins. Eventually I found that the fuses in the fuse panel under the dash were so loose in their sockets that they would fall out under the influence of gravity, since the fuse box is mounted facing downwards.
The factory "solution" to this was to fit a strip of sticky-backed plastic in best Blue Peter style along each row of fuses, but this was unsticking itself. I tweaked all the fuses to make them fit tightly and ditched the sellotape, and it has been fine for fifteen years. |

Now I’ve seen everything!
A fuse hidden in a loom! And not some diy bodge, but by design! Glad to hear you got it fixed & I’m sure plenty of others will find this thread enormously helpful! |
