Hi Guys
An Update. I received a replacement TPS from Island 4x4 in Kent today. Cost was about half of what I would have paid in Oz. Even with DHL express shipping. Sent the 3rd of August, in Sydney custom cleared 6th August, arrived in Lismore 9th August. Thanks Guys. In removing the TPS the 3 bolts you have to undo have a nut on the other side of the firewall. This makes it a two man job to do. One inside the cab the other underneath to hold the nuts while you remove and retighten the 3 bolts. Remove the bolts unplug the wires remove old TPS connect wires to new TPS and replace bolts, done. Started and runs OK and the throttle does what a throttle is supposed to do. Haven't road tested as yet but so far so good. Regards Deafdog |

Interesting, thanks for the update. So, I guess for safety reasons you can‘t replace just the sensor? The workshop manual also only says, „unscrew, unplug“ pedal assembly (tighten to 25Nm).
Also interesting IMHO: what they call ‚accelerator pedal position (APP) sensor’ is a set of two potentiometers with independent power supply, and ‚If one of the inputs from the APP sensor fails, or there is a fault with the ground or supply connections, the ECM limits engine response to that produced by the first 28% of accelerator pedal travel. If both inputs fail, there will be no response to accelerator pedal operation. The engine will idle at a raised value while the brake pedal is released, and at the normal value when the brake pedal is pressed. This allows a restricted limp-home operation‘ |
