Your pic has vanished into the ether, but those are both common wear points and credible statements. According to LR the drop arm ballpoint isn't serviceable but in practice it is if you use aftermarket parts, so it may not be necessary to replace the arm itself.

There are many options and many retailers, so it's a little difficult to recommend one over another. There are good makes (eg Delphi) and dodgier makes (Britpart) .
RTC5869 and RTC5870 are the part numbers for the track rod end ball joints. The former (ending 69) is RH thread, the latter LH thread. Unfortunately I can't remember which should be on the nearside, but it is always possible that someone has removed the track rod and refitted it the wrong way round in the past, so it's best to check what you need. The drop arm BJ is RBG000010, and I notice that I was wrong in my earlier post, there is a genuine part available... at a price. If you Google these part numbers you'll find many buying options, and for a new owner I realise it can be hard to choose. I'm sure that advice will be freely given I'd you post further questions. Your picture is now visible - nice vehicle! |

Don't try to remove the drop arm to replace the ball joint.
You can, with some YouTube surfing, learn to do it on the vehicle and it will also reduce the risk of damaging seals on the steering box. I made some tools to do this myself. Click image to enlarge |

You could consider swapping over to a Discovery style drop arm, this has a replceable ball joint.

The Defender one is replaceable, it's just a little harder to do!
