Apple car play & reverse camera
Good afternoon
I’ve just picked up first defender a 2003 90 xs.
I would like to change the standard head unit to a unit with apple car play and install a reverse camera . Does anybody have any suggestions on a unit and where to buy from.
Thanks

Slightly pricey option this is what I’ve done.

Fit one of these, you’ll be able to get a very good price for the original single DIN console it replaces as they’re like rocking horse poop

Pop one of these into it -

And connect one of these to it, powered by the reversing light circuit to make wiring it simple -

I use an Atoto F7 SE from Amazon. Less than £200 it's awesome.
Added a £10 reverse camera from ebay works a treat.
You can also get a little disc remote control for the stereo for £24 that's useful. 2009 Defender 90 CSW 2.4 TDCI.

@Poulsontb - mine is a Puma so got mine from ebay for £75. Wasn't to bad for quality. I would suggest mudstuff for the td5 etc - https://www.mudstuff.co.uk/products/mud-td5-double-din-console 2009 Defender 90 CSW 2.4 TDCI.

Will send a picture soon. The Atoto I bought was normal deep double din size so didn't go too far into the dash. It has a nice feature of manufacturer logos built in, choose LR and when it starts you get the landrover logo. Awesome. It has many inputs - reverse camera, then a permanent rear camera (you need a better quality one) and many more. It came with three electric looms that plug into the existing iso connectors - on mine I tried one, it powered up but didn't save any settings (no permanent live for the memory) the other one did. So check it all works before bolting it all in.
Works fine with apple car play, I have now switched to android and all fine again. I play absolute radio through the built in player but belive you can also get dab adapters.
Photo to follow soon! 2009 Defender 90 CSW 2.4 TDCI.

Do yourself a favour and go for one of the half depth offerings. The full depth ones take up a huge amount of space leaving virtually nothing for wiring. On the later puma models people have to start melting and deforming heater pipes.

The Atoto F7 Se is a shallow depth head unit with adapters. 2009 Defender 90 CSW 2.4 TDCI.

Anyone found a decent half depth one. I fitted the JVC one about three years ago and its rubbish for DAB radio. The manufacturer recognised it was an issue but mine was out of warranty

I use the Atoto. Various models are available from Amazon. Full and half depth. Rather than BAD, I use a radio player app on my smart phone streamed through the device.
I get a few drop outs on coverage (O2) but not as bad as a straight dab receiver and aerial (I get lots of hire cars with my job and travel lots) . 2009 Defender 90 CSW 2.4 TDCI.
